Rahul Dravid Resigns as the Indian Captain

This is surely a shock for all the Indian cricket fans. Just before the crucial match between India and Pakistan, Rahul Dravid – The Indian skipper sent in his resignation to the Indian Cricket Board on Thursday.
Dravid had opted out of the current Twenty20 world cup and for that reason Mahendra Singh Dhoni was given the captainship. There was a meeting of the selectors on Thursday where in Dravid discussed the matter with Mr. Sharad Pawar and handed in the resignation to be effective instantly.
Along with he also expressed his gratitude for being the captain for 2 consecutive years and did not wish to continue anymore. According to the chief of the board of selectors, Dilip Vengsarkar, the next decision to appoint the captain will be taken on the 18 th of September. India is preparing for the busy season coming against Pakistan in the home series and a complete tour of Australia.
Dravid hasn’t been quite successful as a captain as compared to Saurav Ganguly as he faired as 51% in tests and 44% in One day Internationals. However, lately his personal performance has been affected greatly in the last two series. It is yet to be figured out as to what led him to such a drastic step…
