Muralitharan Vs Bedi - A Legal Affair
The Sri Lankan spinner Muttiah Muralitharan is heard of taking some fairly legal actions against Bishan Bedi for making disapproving remarks about his bowling styles. It has also been reported that a letter demanding for damages has been sent to Bishan Bedi asking for an amount of 7 million dollars which is something like 750 million rupees.
There is a strong team of legal officials by the side of Muralitharan including the president’s counsel. The scene has been intensified to the extent that if the legal demanding letter is not answered, severe action will be taken in India or in Sri Lanka.
Bedi has been putting allegations against Muralitharan since a long time now and have done it many times in the past but this time during the last week, Bedi compared him to a mere shot putter and went to the heights of saying that his bowling records was no better to run outs. This was what prompted the bowler to take legal actions according to his agent Gunasekara. Bishan Bedi’s remarks have put a question on his self respect and integrity. Some self-discipline has to be there while talking about a player of that stature.
Despite clearing his action for a number of times in front of the International Cricket Control, Muralitharan has been typically assassinated by Bedi’s remarks. The lawyers quoted these remarks as awfully disrespecting and unpardonable.
