This holiday season, another battle between India and Australia takes place right after the Christmas day. Melbourne is full of celebrations this week and it couldn’t be a better way to start the game on the boxing day. As much as 70,000 cricket fans are expected to turn up on Wednesday for the first day of the test match series between the everlasting rivals, India and Australia. The ground named “Rod Laver Arena” is believed to be the one of the luckiest spots for the Australian team as they haven’t lost any match here since 1998. The match that they lost in 1998 against England was a thorough nail-biter. After that there have been continuous victories registered by the Australian side and hence can be easily concluded that their chances of a win here are huge.

India, on the other hand are still evolving as a fine test side but the match against Australia is undeniably difficult. With a weakened attack lately and a varying batting line up, the challenge lying ahead India is massive in simple words. Ricky Ponting didn’t reveal the team so much but the Indian side is supposed to be the same. It is also confirmed that Rahul Dravid shall be opening the match along with Wasim Jafer and Yuvraj Singh shall be batting at no.6 once again. Saurav Ganguly is playing his 100th test match and a lot is being expected in terms of runs as far as the former Indian skipper is concerned.

According to the reports by the head groundsman, Tony Ware, the pitch is expected to be flat and the same is confirmed by the Australian captain as he happened to witness some of the domestic matches here. However, bowling first would be the ideal option as far as this pitch is concerned.
