Pakistan Vs South Africa 1st Test Match at Karachi – Day 2 Preview

By the end of the second day Pakistan were 127 for 5 with Malik and Rehman still in play for tomorrow and at 9 and 11 runs respectively. Today was one of those days where South Africa played its best and a part of its credit goes to Jacques Kallis with a score of 155 and supported by Villiers with 77.

On the whole it is obvious that the Pakistan middle order failed miserably and thus couldn’t keep the momentum going. However, Mohammad Hafeez and Kamran Akmal gave a very good start to their team contributing 71 runs in just 14 overs, but all those who followed couldn’t live up to their standard and there were 5 quick wickets before the day ended. Paul Harris was the man responsible behind such an advantage for South Africa by grabbing two wickets for mere 18 runs.

Special mention about the Pakistani spinner Dinesh Kaneria who managed to pick up his 200th wicket and he shall remember it for long as it was the pricey wicket of Jacques Kallis on 155. It seemed mandatory to stop Jacques Kallis as he was all set to crack another knock of a double century hitting consecutive fours in the over bowled by Mohammad Asif.
